Mission of the project
The present project, ‘Enhancing ink print adhesion and 3D printing properties of materials by using atmospheric pressure plasma jet’ (Plasma4AdhesionPrint), consists in a series of studies upon the usage of atmospheric pressure plasma as a technological solution for environmentally friendly surface processing of polymeric materials. The general objective of the project is the enhancement of surface adhesion through appj plasma treatment for better ink-printing of plastic material and better inter-layer adhesion of 3D-printed objects.
Main Phases
- 1. (2022): Designing, development and characterization of atmospheric pressure plasma device for surface treatment; – DONE
- 2. (2023): Study the effect of plasma exposure of different types of materials, in terms of surface physico-chemical modifications, removal of surface contaminants and adhesion properties; – DONE
- 3. (2024): Investigation and validation of the enhancement of the adhesion properties of polymer samples after plasma treatment, for ink-printing and 3D-printing; – DONE
- 4. (2022-2024): Project management and results dissemination. – DONE
